Wednesday trampers 23 August 2023.
After a number of false starts in recent weeks, four of us finally got away on our short walk at Kiriwhakapapa. We met at the road end and first make our way along the old logging track as far as the saddle, the steady climb was a welcome warm up on a chilly morning. After a short break we continued on, down to the Mikimiki stream, before turning around and this time taking the loop track back through the redwoods to the cars. Home about 1pm.
It was a pity see that, once again, the hoons have driven over the camping area grass leaving lots of wheel ruts. Maybe time for some bollards and a means of regulating access.
